All About Farmgrown Design
Farmgrown Design is a freelance web design & branding company started by Kyle Janky in 2012. It is located in Central Nebraska but designs for various clients anywhere that the internet exists.
Background Information
Kyle grew up on a farm outside Central City graduating from CCHS in 2005. He spent all of his first 18 years helping out his dad on the farm in the summers growing corn and soybeans, and raising a small number of cattle.
While he loved being on the farm, he also had a love for art and design. In high school, he took many art and woodworking classes and loved making things from scratch. He knew that he wanted to pursue a career in the creative field.
Kyle’s Education
Kyle attended Hastings College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Web Design & New Media with a minor in Studio Art in 2009. During his time at Hastings, he was involved in a lot of activities. He was a contributor to the Collegian, Bronco News Now, 90.1 KFKX, and HCworldnews.com. He also played as a member of the Hastings College Golf Team for four years, earning All-Conference honors his senior year.
After graduating from Hastings College, Kyle wanted to further his education in the field of Graphic and Web Design in a more specific program. To accomplish this, he attended Southeast Community College’s Graphic Design Program, earning a degree in 2011.
The hands-on, workplace-like atmosphere at SCC would prepare him further for a career in web design. He learned typography, logo design, and the knowledge necessary to effectively communicate a message through visual design. He also learned technical skills, programming, and knowledge of online standards that are essential to a web designer’s arsenal.
The whole of his education gives him the rare skill-set to use both sides of the brain. This allows him to do both the creative design and technical programming required for a great-looking and a great-performing website.
Professional Career
I worked at a design agency in Lincoln, Nebraska for a short time but decided to move closer to home and start my own design business in 2012. I strive to bring a farmer’s steady work ethic and “can-do” spirit to my work. I believe that a farmer’s process can be applied to design to produce a great result.
I look forward to working with the various businesses and organizations throughout Central Nebraska and the surrounding areas with their graphic/web design needs. I recently opened an office in suite 302 of the Downtown Center in Grand Island at the corner of 3rd and Locust St. MAP IT!
